First actual post.. brought to you by the number 6

Six is a sexy word. Sounds like sex. Sort of looks like sex. And if you have that many people involved in sex, then you obviously are having a good time. Sexual fantasies aside, the number six should bring great joy to Phillies fans for other reasons.

First, and perhaps the most obvious reason, is the big man. Rhyno, THE Godzilla, Deep 6, Howitzer, H-Bomb, All-Howerful... whatever ridiculous nickname we like to give our stud players. Ryan Howard and his number 6 give every fan in Philadelphia reason to smile. This is nothing new that I am saying here, however, think around the league and try to conjure up one team that has a budding superstar with this much promise. Jose Reyes? Great Talent but not close. David Wright? Howard already kicked his ass in the derby. Liriano? Ask Tommy John. Ryan Howard truly is the most exciting thing in baseball and he has only been here for a year and a half.

The second SIX that I would like to point out is a sixtet that the Phillies currently embody. Utley, Howard, Hamels, Victorino, Rollins and Myers. All 6 are on the better side of 30, while King Cole is barely on the upper side of 20. Let me average up the 4 hitters of the crew and show how they fared last season. HUVR: .296/30.25/95 with a 109.5 runs scored. How did they hit 1/4 of a homerun and mange to score 1/2 of a run?...Only Charlie Manuel knows (his mathematics are obviously the only reason why Gillick would possibly keep him) So what does that average of numbers mean? To be honest, I do not really know. I do know this much though...those four hitters are the brightest things the Phillies have on their roster. The combination of speed (Vic), power (How), clutchness (Ut), and fielding (Roll) will be with the Phillies for the years to come. Those traits can be mixed and matched with each player for the most part and will be with this team for quite some time.

The last two that make up this dynamo six are our pocket aces. The Phillies haven't had a dominant number 1 since schilling left, so we will have to settle for two players to share the role. And with these two I see no problem with that. Cole got over his hump in june and july and threw like the pimp he is. Myers for the most part had an identical year to 2005 with a slight dip in some facets. Partially because while Cole was developing into a pimp on the field, Myers was turning into a pimp on the streets of boston by keeping his hand a little too strong....apparently his idol growing up was Darren Daulton. Anyways, it will be fun to see what these two have in store for 2007 and beyond. Also if you remember, John "I am beating Manuel in the who can be the fatter shit contest" Lieber opened the season in 2006. Hopefully a competition brews between the Cole and Brett to determine who is the Phils true ace. My bet is on the king, however, either way I never fold pocket aces. (I nominate as probably the gayest thing I will write on this site...ever)

Other notices of the awesome number 6:
-Victorino's homerun total (which I pray reaches double digits)
-How many years we might see Soriano here for (more on this later)
-Madson's hit total in 2006 (more than both Randal Simon and Alex S. Gonzalez)
-How many times Hamels was walked (cause the opposition even fears his bat)
-How many times Gavin Floyd made me hate my life (and that is an EXTREME understatement)

On another and final note, me and my buddy have made up a Victorino yell that hopefully will catch on at the Bank. If you watch Entourage you should get it. Johnny Drama's infamous "VICTORY!!" followed by a very loud "NOOOO!!"....is it cheesy, gay, corny and probably not funny? Damn straight. Will you hear me scream it every time buffalo soldier plays? Oh yes.

Great post dude. That sixtet will carry the Phils onwards to victory! I'll be listening for the chant next season. Do it loud and proud.
