Charlie Manuel vs Ryan Madson

I think at this point in time, it is becoming very clear that the Phillies' skipper wants to destroy the spirits of Ryan Madson. After giving the Braves the lead in the tenth on Monday, Manuel trots Madson back out for the tenth again on Wednesday. Madson barely got through it, but was then shoved back out in the 11th to give up another game-winning homerun. So at this point, Madson has not pitched an outing without giving up a game-winner. His confidence is probably not existent.

Saturday vs the Marlins, after the Phillies are down 6-3, Manuel brings in Ryan Madson for some semi-mop-up work. Madson gets through the first inning. Good job. Gets through the second inning. Good job, now get him out so he can build on this. You have other relievers you can use, Madson isn't the only one. Once again, like on Wednesday, our trusty manager trots Madson back out for a third inning and waits for him to give up a run before he yanks him out. It's almost like Charlie is thinking "Every game Ryan pitches, I am going to keep him in there until he gets scored on." Madson is struggling mightily thus far this season, but is still a big part of our bullpen. Confidence is a HUGE part of pitching and Charlie isn't helping out Ryan with this. Players don't deserve to get special treatment, but Madson desperately needs some help.

Also...
Questions that NEED to be answered
  • Where did Ryan Howard's bat go?
  • Listening to Wheeler and Sarge ALL NINE innings is torture. So...why did the Phillies fire Scott Graham?
  • Do people still hate Pat Burrell?
  • If defense is the reason Philadelphia loves Rowand, is he still a fan favorite?
  • Am I the only one who cries when our starters leave the game?

...Another 1-4 start to the season. And this time I don't have Gavin Floyd to blame.

i got to watch some of the game today because my friend has mlb.tv...from wat i notice we just really aren't playing with the fire it takes to win championships...we get down and then we're done...ryan howard has been colder than ice and j-roll seems on his way to an mvp the way he's playing, if the whole team had his fire we'd be 5-0...it's just pretty sad to watch the team rite now...we need someone on the team to wake up besides just j-roll and remember that these games count.

I agree KPP. Rollins is the only one backing up his comments about being the team to beat.

Overall, we are still a very dangerous team. When Howard finally heats up and Utley does too, and when Gillick does something with this bullpen (he has to, right?), we will be a very formidable team.

But for now, unfortunately, we all have to suffer.

I'm not sure if I've ever said this before, but Charles Fuqua Manuel is a R-Tard! I was happy with Madson's first 2 innings, but to leave him in for a 3rd is fucking stupid on Manuel's behalf. I honestly want Manuel fired immediately!

Other than Rollins, this team just seems apathetic. If they don't start showing some life soon, they are going to quickly slide into another mediocre season and Philly sports fans are going to pay more attention to the days left until Eagles training camp.

FOURTEEN men were left on base today!
